One of the most popular places to visit on the Cornish coastline is St Ives -Famed for its harbour and wonderful sands, the town is home to festivities and events throughout the year and is a centre of local culture. This seaside gem is also surrounded by picturesque towns and villages such as Mousehole, Hayle, Ludgvan and Marazion.
The town has several enticing beaches close by such as Gwithian, Porthminster and Porthmeor beach, as well as Carbis Bay. Away from the sands, there is the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. An enjoyable journey and day out is taking a ride on the St Ives Bay Line. This railway runs as far as Penzance, calling at Carbis Bay, Lelant, Leland Saltings, and St Erth. For art lovers, St Ives also has its own Tate Gallery, displaying both national and international works. The Penwith Gallery is also an attraction and mainly displays the work of local artists.
